Sudamericano Sub-20: Chile 0 Uruguay 4

Chile’s Sudamericano Sub-20 campaign came crashing back to earth as they suffered a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Uruguay in their second group game of the first group game.

The Uruguayans capitalised on a number of defensive errors by the Chileans with goals from Carlos Alfaro and Adrián Luna both scoring from defensive errors. However not to take anything from the Los Celeste the goals of Pablo Cepelini and Diego Polenta were final examples of individual brilliance. The result ensures that La Roja will need to pick up points in the next two matches against Venezuela and Argentina to progress to the next phase of the competition.

To make matters worse, Mirko Opazo will miss the next game after receiving a straight red card in the dying moments of the match after a fouling goalscorer, Pablo Cepelini.
