Honours were even at the Home Depot Centre on Saturday night (USA time) as a 75th minute Teal Bunbury penalty cancelled out Estaban Paredes’ earlier strike in what could be Marcelo Bielsa last game in charge of La Roja.
With both teams fielding teams solely made up of home based players (basically because it was a non-FIFA date) it was the only player from either team that was at last year’s World Cup, Esteban Paredes, who put the visitors ahead in the 53rd minute as he got on the end of Felipe Seymour cross.
The US levelled things up in the 75th minute after Sebastián Toro tripped Juan Agudelo just inside the penalty area with Teal Bunbury putting Paulo Garcés the wrong way from the resulting spot kick.
The match may have also been the final match in charge of La Roja for Marcelo Bielsa, who it appears is growing tiresome of the constant questions regarding his tenure. However, he did allude to the fact that the situation would be resolved in the coming week after he returns to his adopted homeland.
