Chile’s Sudamericano Sub-20 campaign is hanging by a thread after they suffered their second consecutive defeat going down 3-1 to Argentina in their latest match of the tournament.
The Chileans dominated most of the first half but failed to find the back of the net in a match that could have secured their position in the next phase of the competition. It wasn’t long into the second that La Roja were made to suffer for the prolifigacy in front of goal as Facundo Ferreyra scored in both the 57th and 66th minutes for the albiceleste. Despite pulling one back through Alejandro Vásquez only minutes later, the Argentineans put the game beyond doubt in the 72nd minute as Claudio Mosca scored a third.
Fortunately for Chilean manager, César Vaccia, group rivals Peru and Venezuela drew 1-1 in the match that followed Chile’s loss. This means that La Roja will need win their final group match against Venezuela to qualify for the next stage of the competition.
Goals to follow shortly.
