Drought broken

The second round of the Apertura concluded on Sunday night with the feel good story of the year so far (big call I know) with Unión La Calera winning for the first time in the Primera A for twenty-five years after defeating Unión San Felipe 1-0 at the Estadio Municipal Nicolás Chahuán. Coincidentally there last win was also against San Felipe.

In other matches Universidad Catolica maintained its winning start to the season with a 3-1 win over Audax Italiano in a spiteful match that saw three players receiving straight red cards, two of them from Los Tanos. Cobresal’s Hector Pericás scored the first hat-trick of the season as El Cuadro Minero ran out 3-2 winners over Huachipato with four of the five goals being scored in the first half. The round also saw La “U” pick up their first win of the season with a comprehensive 3-1 win over Ñublense whilst arch rivals Colo Colo are still winless after going down 2-1 to Wanderers in Valparaíso.
