Católica through to the quarter finals of the Copa Libertadores

The winning goal

Universidad Católica qualified for the quarter finals of the Copa Libertadores for the first time in fourteen years after they defeated Brazilian side, Gremio 1-0 in the second leg of their Round of 16 clash to take the tie 3-1 on aggregate.

Whilst it took until the 86th minute for los cruzados to finally put the tie to bed they never looked in any danger of giving away their hard fought 2-1 lead before captain Milovan Mirosevic headed home a pinpoint Francisco Silva cross to send the home fans into a delirious rapture. Next up for Católica in the continental competition are Uruguayan giants, Peñarol.
