Colo Colo issue warning

Colo Colo loomed as a team to avoid come the playoffs as they thrashed fourth placed O’Higgins 5-1 to move within a point of eighth placed Unión La Calera, who went down 1-0 to Iquique in their sixth consecutive match without picking up maximum points.

In what I had labelled the match of the round, league leaders Universidad Católica were reduced to nine men in their clash against Unión Española but still managed to hold for a 0-0 draw and maintain a five point lead at the top of the table. A win or draw against fierce rivals Universidad de Chile in the next round will ensure los cruzados top spot for the season and automatic qualification for the Copa Sudamericana during the Clausura season. La “U” for their part warmed up for the match with a 3-1 away win over a stumbling Huachipato.
