France 1-1 Chile

Chile came from behind to draw 1-1 with France in their first  friendly since their Copa América exit. With the likes of Matías Fernandez, Humberto Suazo and Mauricio Piñilla all absent through injury and Alexis Sánchez sitting out the first half it was a much different looking side to the one that was eliminated by Venezuela almost a month ago .

The visitors went behind in the 20th when Marseille striker Loic Remy got on the end of a beautifully executed Karim Benzema cross. France then numerous chances to extend their lead with the aforementioned Benzema being twice foiled by Chilean ‘keeper Claudio Bravo. And the home side were made to pay for their profligacy in front of goal in the 76th minute when a curling strike from Nicolás Córdova found the top right hand corner. It was the Brescia midfielder’s first ever goal for the national side and came after a brilliant interchange of passing from the visitors

  1. Missed this one as Brazil were playing at the time. Did Chile keep the 3-4-1-2 with Valdivia as the 1?

How about Rúbio? Did he play well?

And that France goal looked far too easy. Poor marking and goalkeeping…. As usual….

Like yourself I didn’t watch the game, I’ve just seen extended highlights. Not sure as to the formation considering that Rubio was the only out and out striker to start. As for the France goal it was something that we saw over and over again in the Copa and is definitely something that Borghi needs to work on come the qualifiers.
