La “U” goes top of the table

Universidad de Chile have gone top of the Clausura table after defeating Unión Española 1-0 at the Estadio Santa Laura courtesy of a 58th minute goal from Francisco Castro. The win gives La “U” a perfect start to their Clausura campaign and they still have a game in hand on their nearest rivals. The loss for Unión Española leaves them sitting second last on the table without a win to their name.

Whilst Universidad de Chile maintained their perfect start to the season their nearest rivals all faltered with Huachipato and Universidad Católica sharing the spoils in a 1-1 draw and O’Higgins split the points with same scoreline against Ñublense despite having a man advantage for the last half hour. The 1-1 score was a popular for the round with Palestino drawing with Santiago Wanderers and Cobreloa doing likewise Universidad de Concepción by the same scoreline. In the round’s last match Colo Colo had to come from two goals down against Unión San Felipe in front of their home fans to draw 2-2. The result leaves los albos in tenth position on the table.
