Top of the table familiarity

The top of the Clausura table is starting to look very familiar as Universidad de Chile maintained its lead at the top of the table as well as its perfect start to the season as it brought Round 5 to an end with a 2-0 victory over Santiago Morning. Getting on the scoresheet for La “U” were Gabriel Vargas and Diego Rivarola.

One point behind Universidad de Chile are arch-rivals Universidad Católica, who defeated O’Higgins 2-0 in front of their home fans with goals courtesy of Fernando Meneses and Matías Mier. The loss was a double blow for O’Higgins as coach Ivo Basay announced afterwards that he would be taking the vacant position at Colo Colo. Colo Colo for their part defeated Palestino 3-1 with Esteban Paredes scoring a brace.
