With round nine of the Clausura beginning this weekend it effectively means we are into the second half of the season and with only eight matches remaining now is the time for teams to jostle for position behind runaway leader Universidad de Chile in the run in to the playoffs.
Coming off disappointing losses last weekend both Universidad Católica and Colo Colo will be looking to bounce back against Santiago Morning and Cobreloa respectively with los albos having the more difficult task against their fifth placed opponents. Meanwhile the fight is on for the bottom four playoff positions with a crucial clash between seventh placedIquique and eighth placed Unión Española being one of the highlights. Since the departure in controversial circumstances of Ivo Basay, O’Higgins have been in freefall and the ninth placed Rancaguan side won’t find it any easier against the rampant Universidad de Chile in the last match of the round.
