With the first round of the 2014 World Cup Qualifiers out of the way it’s now back to the action in the Clausura with the twelfth round starting on Wednesday and running all the way through to the Sunday. It is also a round that features two clásicos which should keep everyone happy.
Universidad de Chile and Unión La Calera get the round underway on Wednesday night in the Estadio Nacional with the league leaders looking to get back on the winners’ list after two consecutive draws. The first of the weekend’s clásicos with the clásico albo-cruzado taking place between Colo Colo and Universidad Católica on Sunday afternoon with los cruzados looking to arrest the recent run of four consecutive losses in the Clausura. Meanwhile Colo Colo will be looking to bounce back from their shock 4-0 loss to La Serena.
The weekend’s other clásico is the clásico del cobre between Cobreloa and Cobresal and with both teams sitting fourth and fifth on the table respectively both teams will be out for a win to cement their position in the playoffs. At the foot of the relegation table the clash between Universidad de Concepción and Ñublense shaping as crucial to both teams’ survival in Primera B. Ñublense are currently sitting in one of the automatic relegation spots with their opponents four points ahead of them in a playoff spot. A win is a must for both teams if they want to avoid the drop.
