Universidad Católica progressed to the final of the Copa Chile after defeating Universidad de Concepcion 5-4 in the second leg of their semi-final match-up. The result meant los cruzados progressed 6-4 on aggregate and will meet Primera B side Magallanes in the final.
Eight of the game’s nine goals came in the first half as Universidad Católica got off to absolute flyer scoring goals in the first, third and thirteen minutes courtesy of Hans Martínez, Roberto Cereceda and César Carignano respectively. Las penguistas hit back in the 36th and 39th minutes via Felipe Muñoz and Mario Aravena before Católica’s Matías Mier and Francisco Pizarro also got themselves on the scoresheet with goals in the 40th and 42nd minutes respectively. That however wasn’t the end of the scoring for the half as the aforementioned Muñoz got his brace just on the stroke of half time.
There was only one further goal for the match as Pedro Muñoz got Universidad de Concepción’s fourth goal in the 76th minute before both he and Felipe Muñoz both received red cards in the dying moments of the match.
