The Clausura’s thirteenth round saw the battle for second and third position hot up as both Colo Colo and Audax Italiano getting important wins whilst league leader Universidad de Chile could only draw with Palestino as Unión Española pushed its way back into a playoff position with an important win.
Three goals in the first twelve minutes were enough for Audax Italiano to see off Deportes Iquique 3-0. The first half onslaught was started by Luis Fuentes own goal before Felipe Mora and Facundo Pereyra completed the carnage with goals in the fourth and twelfth minutes respectively. Table topping Universidad de Chile continued their recent run of draws on the home front as they were held to a 1-all draw with Palestino with a Junior Fernandes golazo in the 60th minute cancelling out Felipe Gallegos’ earlier goal for los azules.
Unión Española continued its recent run of up and down form with a convincing 3-1 over Ñublense, a result which kept the Chillian side in the automatic relegation spots. For los hispanos the result saw them jump up to sixth place on the table one point ahead of Universidad Católica, who drew 2-all with ninth placed Cobresal.
In the final match of the round, Colo Colo maintained second position on the table with a convincing 3-1 win over Santiago Morning, a result which left los bohemios in last position on the general classification and are now faced with a difficult task of maintaining the position in the Primera Division.
