Borghi names his squad for qualifiers against Uruguay and Paraguay

Late last week Claudio Borghi announced his squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Paraguay and Uruguay with a number of Universidad de Chile players being rewarded for their recent good form as well as a return for Alexis Sánchez.

With their club sitting eight points clear on the top of the table it is hardly surprising to see the likes of Charles Aranguiz, Eugenio Mena and Marcelo Diaz joining the likes of Eduardo Vargas and Osvaldo González as part of Universidad de Chile’s contribution to Borghi’s latest squad. One player that may count himself unlucky is goalkeeper Jhonny Herrera as O’Higgins’ Luis Marín grabs the third ‘keeper position.

The squad also sees the return of Alexis Sánchez, who only just returned to the pitch in Barcelona’s Champions League triumph overnight. One can see his contribution coming off the bench as he looks to ease his way back into form after a two month layoff plus Vargas and Suazo combined excellently during the last qualifier against Peru and deserve to be paired up again.

The full squad is as follows:

Claudio Bravo (Real Sociedad)
Miguel Pinto (Atlas)
Luis Marín (O’Higgins)
