Copa Libertadores 2012: Unión Española 2-0 Junior

Unión Española continued its recent good form of late as it opened its Copa Libertadores group campaign with a 2-0 win over Colombian side Junior de Baranquilla at the Estadio Santa Laura.

It was two goals in one minute midway through the second half that saw los hispanos triumph over their opponents. Emanuel Herrera opened the scoring in the 64th minute as the Colombians failed to clear a corner after a period of sustained pressure from the home side. A minute later Fernando Cordero doubled the advantage as he finished off a sweeping move with a cross come shot that caught Junior goalkeeper Sebastián Viera totally flat footed.

Next up for Unión Española is a trip to the Bolivian capital to take on Bolivar, a side they defeated to progress to the group stages of last year’s Copa Libertadores.
