The table has familiar look about it after seven rounds with Universidad de Chile sitting two points clear on the table from perennial rivals Universidad Católica whilst O’Higgins and Iquique round out the top four.
Rangers de Talca and Palestino kicked off round seven of the Apertura and with both teams at the wrong end of the table a win was important for both teams. Fortunately for the team from Talca it they who grabbed all three points with a 2-0 victory courtesy of a brace to Mauricio Gómez.

Sunday saw Antofagasta record only their second win of the season with a 1-0 victory of Santiago Wanderers, who after a bright start to the season haven’t won a game in their last three matches. In a battle of the northern based teams, Cobresal remained winless after going down 4-0 to Iquique with Edson Puch and Cristián Bogado both picking up braces. In what was billed as the match of the round, Universidad Católica defeated O’Higgins 2-1 with Roberto Ovelar scoring the winning in the 89th minute. The round’s last match saw Colo Colo go down 2-0 at the hands of La Serena with Eduardo Rubio doing the damage with a brace. The loss has heaped an inordinate amount on pressure on los albos’ manager Ivo Basay.
