A super Saturday is in store for fans of Chilean football this weekend with six matches taking place with highlights being the clashes between Universidad de Chile and Unión Española, Cobreloa and Colo and the less high profile clash between O’Higgins and Iquique.
Santiago Wanderers and Unión San Felipe start off the eighth round of the Apertura season on Friday night with Wanderers looking to arrest a recent slump in form whilst their opponents will be looking to build on their only win for the season.
Saturday looks to be a bumper day of football with six games taking place. Two matches stand out in the form of Universidad de Chile versus Unión Española and Cobreloa hosting a struggling Colo Colo, with their manager Ivo Basay hoping for a win to stop the calls for him to be sacked. Another match of interest is third versus fourth encounter between O’Higgins and Iquique, with the third placed Rancaguans looking to bounce back from their last up loss to Universidad Católica.
With both Universidad de Concepción and La Serena coming off important wins last start they will be looking both to build on that as they face each other in the day’s first match whilst both Cobresal and Palestino, who are sitting at the wrong end of the table with only one win between them and they face off against each looking to build on that miserly tally. Antofagasta and Huachipato will finish off the day’s proceedings in the Estadio CAP de Talcahuano.
Sunday sees second placed Universidad Católica visit Unión La Calera as they look to chase down Universidad de Chile whilst Rangers travel to Audax Italiano with both teams looking to build on their one win for the season.
