Round twelve sees the first of the big clásicos for the season as Colo Colo host Universidad Católica in the Monumental on Saturday afternoon whilst Sunday sees plenty of action in the north of the country as the run into the playoffs heats up.
Coming off the high of qualifying for the knockout stages of the Copa Libertadores for the first time in eighteen years, Unión Española will be looking to make sure of their playoff position against Rangers de Talca in the first match of the round in what has been a fairly erratic Apertura season so far.
The highlight of Saturday’s action is the clásico between Universidad Católica and Colo Colo and with both teams out of sorts of late this match takes on extra importance especially for los albos who parted ways with Ivo Basay during the week. The day’s action kicks off with Palestino hosting Santiago Wanderers with the latter looking to bounce from their loss to Universidad de Chile last week as they look to maintain their third position on the table. Other matches taking place are matches between Unión San Felipe and Universidad de Concepción whilst the day’s action is brought to end by La Serena and a resurgent Audax Italiano.
Sunday sees plenty of action in the north of the country with Cobresal travelling to nearby Antofagasta whilst the struggling Cobreloa host local rivals of sorts in the form of Iquique. The last two matches of the round sees the top two in action with Universidad de Chile taking on Unión La Calera and O’Higgins taking on sixth placed Huachipato.
