Universidad de Chile moved sit six points clear at the top of the table after twelve rounds as the made in eight wins in a row whilst rivals Universidad Católica and Colo Colo shared the points in the first big clásico of the season. Meanwhile Audax Italiano continued their recent resurgence as they moved into a playoff position for the first time this season.
In the round’s opening match Unión Española built on its midweek qualification for the knockout stages of the Copa Libertadores with 2-1 victory over Rangers de Talca. Both of los hispanos’ goals came from Jean Paul Pineda whilst for the visitors it was Felipe Reynero who got on the scoresheet.
Saturday saw the first of the big clásicos for the season take place as Colo Colo and Universidad Católica shared the spoils in 1-1 draw. Rodrigo Millar opened the scoring for the home side in the 15th minute before Michael Ríos cancelled it out just before half time. In the day’s first match Palestino sprang somewhat of an upset as the defeated Santiago Wanderers 2-1 whilst later in the day Audax Italiano moved into a playoff position with a 4-2 win over La Serena. In the day’s other match Unión San Felipe and Universidad de Concepción drew 2-all.
Sunday saw plenty of action in the north of the country as first Antofagasta defeated Cobresal 2-1 and the Iquique continued Cobreloa’s miserable run with a 1-0 defeat. Universidad de Chile made it eight wins in a row with a 1-0 victory over Unión La Calera courtesy of 62nd minute goal from Junior Fernandes whilst the round was brought to an end with a 2-1 win for Huachipato over second placed O’Higgins.
