Copa Libertadores 2012: Bolivar 3-0 U. Católica

Universidad Católica’s 2012 Copa Libertadores campaign came to a disastrous end as they crashed out at the hands of Bolivar in their last group game.

Going into the match los cruzados knew that only a win would guarantee progression to the knockout stage whilst a draw at the very least would suit their opponents. And for the visitors it was a disastrous start as Bolivar opened the scoring in the second minute courtesy of Pablo Javier Frontini as Universidad Católica failed to deal with a set play from a corner. Twenty-five minutes later it got worse for the visitors as Walter Flores doubled the home side’s advantage with a wonder strike after getting on the end of Christopher Toselli corner clearance.

The match along with Católica’s Copa Libertadores campaign came to an end shortly after the half time break as they failed to deal with a long Bolivar clearance and Damián Lizio calmly lobbed a despairing Toselli.
