San Marcos de Arica was crowned champion of the Apertura season in Primera B after their 0-0 draw with Deportes Concepción was enough to secure only their second ever trophy in their thirty-six year history.
Going into the match San Marcos knew that a point would ensure them the title regardless of whether or not title rivals Barnechea picked up three points against Ñublense. In the end it didn’t matter as Ñublense defeated the division’s smallest club 2-1 and the team from northern Chile celebrated their second ever trophy. Their title win ensures that will be involved in the playoffs at the end of the Clausura season for a chance to play in the Primera Division in 2013.
