It seems like only yesterday we were taking in the final of the Apertura season but come this week we are already into the third round of the Clausura season. Highlights of the round included the Apertura semi-final rematch between O’Higgins and Unión Española and Iquique clash with Universidad de Chile in the north of the country.
For the second week in a row Universidad de Concepción get the week’s action underway on a Friday night, this time hosting an Antofagasta team that is yet to pick up a point so far this season.
Saturday sees six matches take place with a rematch of the Apertura semi-final opening proceedings as O’Higgins host Unión Española and with both teams yet to register a win it is sure to be an enthralling encounter. Palestino and Unión La Calera have an almost identical record after two matches and they meet in the day’s second match with an aim to break that deadlock. Following on from that clash all eyes will turn to the turn to the north of the country as Iquique and Cobreloa host Universidad de Chile and Audax Italiano respectively. The last two matches of the day sees Santiago Wanderers take on the third-placed Rangers before La Serena plays host to Huachipato.
Sunday sees two of Chile’s big three in action as firstly top of the table Colo Colo take on a Cobresal side who are on the same points and will be buoyed by their last start win over Unión Española. This is followed by the last match of the round as Universidad Católica look to make it two in a row against the relegation threatened Unión San Felipe.
