With Universidad de Chile out of the country Round Four provides a perfect opportunity for those teams at the top of the table to put some early season distance between themselves and the three time champions. Surprise leaders Cobresal and perennial contenders Universidad Católica will be two such teams looking to take advantage of the absence of los azules although to be fair much of the top half of the table will also be looking for some kind of advantage.
Rangers and Iquique get the round’s action underway in Talca with both teams coming off draws last week they will be looking for a win to maintain their respective starts to the season that see them both in the top half of the table.
Saturday sees five matches take place with Antofagasta hosting third placed Universidad Católica with los cruzados looking to maintain the pressure on early season leaders, Cobresal and Palestino. Cobresal for their part will be at home to the winless Universidad de Concepción whilst at the same time Unión Española will host the also winless Unión San Felipe. Later in the day Audax Italiano will host Santiago Wanderers and both Huachipato and Cobreloa will be hoping for their first wins of the campaign when they meet in the last match of the day.
Sunday sees two games take place Unión La Calera hosting Colo Colo, who will be looking to bounce back from their shock loss to league leaders Cobresal and O’Higgins will be hoping to follow up their Copa Sudamericana opener with three points against La Serena.
The round doesn’t actually conclude until the 8th of August with Universidad de Chile hosting Palestino. The match has been delayed because of Universidad de Chile’s current commitments in Japan, where they will take on J-League champions Kashima Antlers.
