The fifth round of the Clausura season looks to be one of the most intriguing yet as it features a relegation six-pointer, a clásico de colonias and yet another clash between Universidad Católica and Unión Española.
Friday night sees one of the first relegation six-pointers of the Clausura season as Unión San Felipe host Antofagasta in the Estadio Municipal San Felipe. San Felipe, who sit rock bottom of the annual table and in the automatic relegation spot will be hoping to pick up their first win of the season against an Antofagasta side that is two places and seven points ahead of them.
Saturday’s action kicks off with a clásico de colonias as Palestino host Audax Italiano. Adding some extra spice to the clash is that both teams have started the season extremely well with the latter second on the table whilst the latter is in fifth position but only one point behind. Also in action are top of the table Rangers who host Cobreloa whilst the struggling Santiago Wanderers take on La Serena. The day’s action is brought to an end in Talcahuano as Huachipato host Iquique, who are coming off an impressive start in the Copa Sudamericana.
Sunday sees Unión La Calera host the high flying Cobresal at the same time as Colo Colo look to pick up their second win of the season as the travel to the nation’s second biggest city to take on Universidad de Concepción. The round is brought to an end in the Estadio San Carlos de Apoquimbo as Universidad Católica play constant rivals Unión Española for the sixth match time this year.
Due to Universidad de Chile’s involvement in the Copa Sugura Bank their clash with O’Higgins has been postponed to a later date.
