After a weekend off for the World Cup Qualifiers attention once again to turns to the Clausura season with the highlight sure to be the clash between one and two as Rangers play host to Universidad de Chile it what will be a measure of where the surprise leaders are at this stage of the season.
In the round’s opening match Universidad Católica play host to Audax Italiano with los cruzados looking to maintain touch with those ahead of it on the table whilst their opponents will be looking to arrest a slump that has seen them go without a win in their last five matches.
Saturday’s opener is surely the match of the round with first placed Rangers de Talca playing host to second placed Universidad de Chile in the Fiscal de Talca. The match will be a good measure of where Rangers are at this stage of the season against a proven champion who only trail them on goal difference. Next up are two matches which concern teams at the other of the table as last placed Universidad de Concepción face an uphill task again Iquique whilst relegation threatened Cobresal and Santiago Wanderers face off against each other. The last two matches on Saturday sees O’Higgins host Cobreloa and Unión San Felipe take on La Serena.
Sunday sees two playoff hopefuls kick off proceedings as Antofagasta take on Palestino in the north of the country. This will be followed Colo Colo taking on Huachipato with los albos look to build on their win last start. The round is brought to an end in the nation’s capital as Unión Española look to bounce back from their shock loss to La Serena as they host lowly Unión La Calera.
