Both Barnechea and Everton were victorious in the first legs of the promotion playoffs at the expense of Cobresal and Universidad de Concepción respectively as they attempt to ascend to the Primera Division next season.
Everton go into next week’s return leg against Universidad de Concepción with an one goal advantage after 10th penalty from Ángel Rojas was enough for them to win 1-nil. The team from Viña del Mar will need a draw or win in the second leg to progress to the Primera Division for the first time since 2010.
A 92nd goal to Francisco Ibañez gave Barnechea an all important two goal buffer as they defeated Cobresal 3-1 in the first leg of their promotion playoff. Barnechea, who are looking to achieve promotion for the second year running, opened the scoring in the 6th minute courtesy of Ignacio Caroca before Cobresal equalised in the 55th minute courtesy of Agustín Vuletich. However Barnechea were back in the lead three minutes later courtesy of Ibañez before he double their advantage on the stroke of full time. In order to maintain their Primera Division status Cobresal will need to win the return leg by a minimum of two goals.
