Deportes Copiapó took a big step towards advancing to Primera B after defeating Deportes Linares 2-1 in the opening leg of their promotion playoff.
Played in the Fiscal de Linares in front of about 7,000 spectators it was the visitors who grabbed the opener for Deportes Copiapó courtesy of Nino Rojas. With the goal advantage the visitors were able to control the tempo of the game and prevent their opponents from hitting them on the counter attack.
Fifteen minutes into the second half the visitors doubled their advantage courtesy of Matías Sánchez before Deportes Linares pulled one back courtesy of Luis Aguirre.
The return leg will be played next Sunday in Copiapó with both teams looking for the chance of replacing Puerto Montt in Primera B.
